We know Perth likes to hibernate in the winter but at Perth Motorplex we are going to go out with a bang at the inaugural Burnout Boss event tonight!
We’ve got skids on from 5pm today with Blown and NA Open competitors ready to duke it out on the Snake Pit. If you’re a competitor or a spectator this is going to be one of the most fun events of the year, as we’re following up the judged sessions with an Expression Session where anything goes!
It’s the same story no matter who you speak to ahead of this event – every driver just wants to feel the adrenaline rush and whip the crowd into a frenzy.
Robert Bond, driver of DBLSTNDRDS, said the cars, the smoke and the adrenaline of the pad were what got him into the scene.
“Getting out on the pad and blowing tyres off the car and seeing the crowd reaction while on the pad is my favourite thing,” he said.
“I want to get out there and have a red hot go and hopefully drive the car off the pad and onto the trailer.”
Shane Gardiner, the driver of HELLBOUND, echoed Bond’s sentiments, saying the feeling when the heart starts pumping was like nothing else.
“I got a yellow sticker on my car six years so I decided to take it to a burnout comp and was addicted from then,” he said.
Chris Gobetti in CRAZY EYE says he has always loved the smell of burnt rubber and methanol and the atmosphere that only an intense stadium burnout show can generate.
“Having an old boy in the hot rod and car scene was always going to rub off,” he said. (My favourite thing about burnouts is the atmosphere, the crowd and smashing a set.”
The competitors are ready, the famous Perth Motorplex Snake Pit is ready, all you need to do is bring yourself and your mates for a tyre busting night of fun at Burnout Boss!
