The moment we have all been waiting for after a six month break, The Super Speedway Grand Opening Showdown!
As we celebrate the first big Speedway show of the 16th summer at the Perth Motorplex with an action packed night of Super Speedway featuring the Grand Opening Showdown for Wormall Civil Sprintcars, Late Models, The Pool Shop Group Speedcars, Alltools Metabo Formula 500s and the Harris Engines Wingless Sprints.
All good celebrations deserve fireworks and the season opener will feature a monster fireworks display to round out the event by the legendary Cardile International Fireworks Company. The fireworks will light up the night sky to round out the Super Speedway show.
The first round of the Wormall Civil Perth Motorplex Sprintcar Track Championship is on the card with defending Champion Jason Kendrick leading the entrant list of the thunder and lightning Sprintcars. Kendrick can expect tough opposition from Perth Motorplex Driver of the Year Ryan Farrell, Myalup brothers Jamie and Brad Maiolo, Cameron Gessner, David Priolo, Mark Wells, Lee Nash, Jason Pryde, Callum Williamson, Robert Watson and the rest of the cast of fast.
The awesome Late Models will be on show with all stars in their amazing cars with Craig Vosbergen and road racing ace Paul Stubber returning from an extended racing tour of America expected to be the men to beat. The always fast Oldfield Brothers in Warren and Jamie have completely freshened their US built machines in readiness for an assault on the Perth Motorplex Track Championship.
Manjimup’s Alfy Guadagnino will lead the Wild and Wingless The Pool Shop Group Speedcars over nine-time Speedcar track Champion Scott Grazebrook will no doubt have his racer ready to go for an all out assault on his opposition in his quest for 10 Perth Motorplex Track Championships. These two top guns won’t have it easy with Lee Redmond, Dan and Rob Golding, former Australian Champion Neville Lance, Todd Waddell, Paul Robinson and WA’s best wild and wingless Speedcars.
A battle of the wheat belt will resume in The ALLTOOLS Metabo Formula 500’s with Track Champ “Tall’ Tommy Hooper from Merredin and Kellerberrin’s Troy Johnson looking to lead the way. Throw in the likes of Steven Ellement and ‘The Mandurah Muscleman’ Adrian Haywood and the 20 odd Pocket Rockets will knock your socks off with their on track action.
96FM breakfast DJ Brad ‘Fitzi’ Fitzgerald will lead the field in the Harris Engines Wingless Sprints, with a quality entrant list expected.
