This weekend Paul Peet will test his endurance via two machines, firstly a 50km bike ride Saturday morning, before strapping into his 900hp Sprintcar to compete in the Krikke Boys Shootout.
Developed around the Krikke Boys Shootout, the ride traditionally takes place the day before the event riding from Perth to Bunbury. But this year will chart a new journey starting at the now defunct Claremont Speedway and finishing up 50kms down the road at the Perth Motorplex.
Riders will swap out of their Lycra for race suits and crew gear later that afternoon to take part in the Annual Krikke Boy Shootout, Western Australia’s biggest sprintcar race. The previous two rides held in 2018 and 2019 (2020 lost due to covid-19), helped riders raise over $60,000.
Additionally this year takes on an even more personal touch with Paul dedicating his ride to an amazing young man and relative of his, Jeremy Greaves (Jez). Jez is 16 years young and fighting the battle with the “c” word.
Paul stated “young Jez had been diagnosed with cancer four years earlier and received treatment. The family last year celebrated three and half years since successful treatment. But in January this year, Jez received devastating news that Leukemia had returned”
Since January, Jez has had aggressive Chemotherapy and will in the next couple of weeks receive a bone marrow transplant. This weekend Paul’s sprintcar will feature a unique Cancer 200 artwork plus a couple of important decals
Almost everyone has a family member or friend with a similar story to Jez. The funds we are raising hopefully helps the Harry Perkins Institute find a cure for cancer in the years ahead.
Please go to Paul’s fundraising page and donate to this amazing cause and let’s find a cure for cancer.
This year they have some competitions for those who donate.
