Tai Woffinden will headline a star studded field of solo riders Gavin Migro has contracted to race at Perth Motorplex this Saturday evening during the running of the final of the Australian Late Model Championship.
Four other Team Great Britain solo riders will join Woffinden, 3 times World Solo Champion, as a lead up and final shakedown before they take on a very strong Australian side in the first of two huge International Solo friendlies (unofficial test matches) the following Friday and Saturday evening at Pinjar Park Motorcycle Speedway.
Local solo star, Dan Winchester will have to be at his brilliant best to keep the Brit’s behind him on the very fast Perth Motorplex track. Dan is the current Perth Motorplex Champion and normally dominates solo racing at this venue.
It is hoped another former WA Champion, Frank Smart will join the WA contingent who will face off against this young, but very strong English line up.
Former NZ rider, Bryan Miller will join Drew Winchester, Jarryd Ziedas, Jason Mazolli and young Declan Killeen who will round out the West Aussie local boys in what sho
uld be a brilliant night of solo action.
All but UK’s Jason Edwards have previously had a taste of the Motorplex circuit.
Jason arrived in Perth from the UK late last week, got his bike out of customs, assembled it and headed down to Pinjar Park last Saturday evening for his first Australian ride.
He is looking forward to performing well at the Motorplex in front of what should be close to a record crowd.
Tai Woffinden is coming fresh off his first competitive ride as a sidecar passenger for South Australia’s, Trent Headland, when the pair competed and came a close second to the Darren Nash/Ash Brown combination in the Jeff Gittus Memorial meeting last weekend.
This Saturday evenings solo racing at Perth Motorplex should go down as one of the best fields to ever compete here and should not be missed.
While its fair to say Tai Woffinden is in a class of his own, Dan Winchester will certainly want to stamp his authority on the Young Lions and justify his selection in the Australian side to take on Great Britain next week.
